It's drizzling all morning, but not hard enough to get wet. By noon it's really dry but the clouds remain showing only some odd small breaks.
Current temp is 21.6°C in and 18.0°C out.
Shopping. As usual, wine and fruit and coffee, no vegetables cause I still have lots of that in the garden.
Speaking of the garden, I mess about in it a bit without doing much. Just enough to get dirt and grit under my nails.
Same with the computer-farm, I mess about in it a bit without doing much. Just enough to get some bytes and bits under my nails.
Dinner is beans. Sounds as simple as it is. And yet, with some chopped onion, a clove of garlic and some herbs it suddenly turns from some side dish into a main course. And there is a dab of Tuscan Olive oil to crown it. Very aromatic.

It is dry but looking at the clouds it could just as well be raining. All dirty grey stuff up there.
Current temp is 21.2°C in and 17.8°C out.
Doing much the same as yesterday. But adding in a visit to my uncle in the afternoon.
Dinner is potato.
The new potatoes are ready, my brother is digging them up, so the last of the old stock must be finished. So I make a nice big oven dish with potatoes and onions and a tomato -not on the recipe but I need to get rid of it so ... - cooked in eggs and cream -but I don't have cream so I use milk in stead- with some chopped olives and diced tomato for decoration distributed on top and a thin covering of cheese for a fine crust. As impressive as a run-on sentence. :)
And tasting way too good.

It is grey all over. All over the place and all over the day. With a few breaks but none of them is impressive. As grey as it it it remains dry and pretty warm too.
Current temp is 23.3°C in and 17.1°C out.
While getting up I broke my alarm. I cannot turn it off, the snooze button still works but after about ten minutes it goes off again. So I got to unplug it.
I broke my alarm last Friday. I do not actually need the alarm because I always wake up early. Too early actually -usually before 05:00- so I have the alarm only set to actually get up in time without having to look at the clock all the time. So I broke the alarm but I do have some spare clocks and alarms in the house. It's called backup. So I put another one on my night stand and set the alarm at 05:30, my normal get-up hour.
That was last night. This morning I wake up but keep in bed till the alarm goes off. Hmm, lots of light already, strange. So I walk into the kitchen to check, yep it's actually 06:30. Of course. I picked the attic clock that was running on 'winter time'.
The advantage of getting up as early as I do is that I can over sleep like that and still be early at work. All I need to do is skip my Live journal post and check.
Support sux. Nothing difficult happens yet I only get some real work done in the afternoon.
Dinner is potato again. Yes I said it was a big oven dish. Big enough for four so after eating yesterday and leaving it for my brother today there is still a good generous portion left. Now before people start thinking I became a vegetarian, I baked some fish with it today. A nice big fillet of cod, plainly baked in a pan with a good twist of pepper and a small pinch of garlic powder. Very good indeed.

Microsoft attitude reigning at NASA. ( http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/19/shuttle_nasa_safety_critiscisms/ ) Spending millions for make-believe while all that is really needed is a papier-machee covering of the heat shield. Easily prevents damage from some loose foam and burns off harmlessly on re-entry. But it doesn't cost millions so it can't be any good can it?
NASA attitude reigning at Microsoft. ( http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/19/windows_vista_p2p/ ) Security impact? What security is there to be impacted?

Et's raaainin damn.
Ahum. Yes, hmm, raining. Raining when I get up, raining when I go to work, raining every time I look out the window, raining while driving home. And now it just stopped.
Current temp is 22.4°C in and 9.5°C out.
I just ordered fuel for heating. So now you can rest assured that the price will go down as of next week. It always does after I order.
There's a bunch of support ion the morning but the rest of the day is calm. Just perfect to tackle a few complicated and important programs on the SAP list.
Dinner is spaghetti.
Not what I intended but I got home a bit late from shopping -the intended chicken and some other stuff- thanks to unexpected pile-ups at the check out. And once home my brother came along with baby-leeks for planting -a bit late at 20:00 and we talked a bit. So instead I cooked me up some spaghetti, with fresh parmesan shavings and a light tomato sauce with cooked ham and cockles. With a sprinkling of Tuscan olive oil for it's aroma.
Holy crap man. I call at about half past ten to order fuel. 2000l of heating oil. They indicate they can deliver this week or next week. Because I normally work I ask them to call me about half an hour before delivery so I can get home to open the gate and the tank.
When I get home I don't notice anything special. Till I find an invoice for 2000l of heating fuel. yep, they delivered, without ever calling as promised, somewhere between 15:00 and 18:00 (my brother was home before and after that). Prompt service. They were lucky I had not put the padlock back on after the last checking.
Ofcource they are just as prompt with presenting the bill and invoice. 1140Euro.

parents don’t like the idea that Americans evolved from apes. Of course they didn't evolve from apes. Evolution typically implies an improvement. . ( http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=25572 ) The notion of Intelligent Design and Microsoft working together ... must be accidental.

After a full day of rain we're set for a full day of sun. Well, the morning is promisingly clear of clouds anyway. Some do appear later, in the afternoon but it remains bright and blue/white. Till evening when there is a bit of drizzle, not enough really to get wet.
Current temp is 22.4°C in and 15.1°C out.
There is again the usual flood of support in the morning drying out to a trickle in the afternoon. Finishing off with a burst around six. Pretty normal pattern. Even though some questions are technically not for us (problem is the one person keeping communications running for the moment was off to Italy for some installation stuff) and who do you call when there is no one to call? Yep.
Chicken with tomato sauce and fennel is one of my favourite stews. But it needs time which I usually don't have during the week. So I planned it for yesterday but that didn't work out. So now I have that chicken and trust me, you don't want chicken to grow old. Not in your fridge anyway. So I make my stew today.
But with a twist. You see, I sowed fennel in the garden but thanks to the drought is didn't germinate as it should so now it's a month behind schedule and not very dense. For good growth it requires between ten and twenty centimeter space between the plants but you cannot put the seeds that far apart cause you got to take into account that not every seed germinates. So you sow then two or three centimeter apart ~very rough estimate here~. That means you typically got to thin out about 80% of young plants if they all germinate. Also the more plants germinate the earlier you got to thin because if you let them grow against each other they get twisted and you easily pull out more than you plan while thinning. The advantage of thinning is that you can select the best and pull out the weaker plants.
With this years type of weather less then 20% germinated but of course not with a perfect distribution. With the gaps and uncertain weather around I waited with thinning till the plants got to a fair size. Which they now have. When normal thinning the plants are too small for consumption so the end up in the compost bin, now they are small but consumable. Finger-thin fennel, something you never find in the store.Anyways, I got fresh fennel, as fresh as you can get, ~the five minutes between soil and pan are spent cleaning~, mixed with fresh -yesterday evenings harvest- tomatoes and some old chicken. simmering to a very fine stew indeed.

Meting tundra or thawing tundra, two slightly different things. ( http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1496292.html ) Maybe now my colleagues belive me when I say it's hot. Nah, probably not.

There is a pattern here, a rain day, a dry day a rain day. Heavy drizzle now. And now (noon). And now (afternoon). And now (...). Only very late in the evening (now ^_^' ) it's dry and clear.
Current temp is 21.5°C in and 8.6°C out.
Not much support and what there is is bunched together at noon in late in the afternoon. The result I that I succeeded in trowing away and completely rewriting the pitslabel printing program. I can test that tomorrow before I add a new tweak to it.
No running. A couple of days ago I jumped off a table and slipped up. I didn't fall but I caught my whole not inconsiderable weight unexpectedly on the wrong foot, coming down on my heel instead of my toes. My ankle still hurts a little. Nothing serious on it's own but going running while the wood-track is still soggy doesn't sound good.
Dinner is rice with onions and beans and carrots and paprika. A variation on what I usually eat on Thursdays. Not bad at all.
Old man: Enjoy your looks while you still have them.
Girl: Oh, we've got a long time before we have to start worrying.
Old man: No, you don't. Just remember: men age, women rot.
