210.028    Tguridare   ^   (Remarks about 168 words)

Yes, they predicted rain and we do get it late in the afternoon. Lots of it. With a good temperature drop coming along. I may be the only one around here but I do like that.
Current temp is 20.5°C in and 13.2°C out.

It's still dry in the morning so I hang out a bit in the garden. Alternating that with some house cleaning. Overdue that.

After that I go to my uncle for the regular visit. While there I help reassembling a picture frame -after putting a new picture in it. While doing so the pincers slip and I squeeze my thumb. Rather hard but not too seriously. Strangely enough later when I am back home my arm hurts as if I pulled a muscle there while my thumb doesn't hurt anymore.

Dinner is cold shrimp and crab-meat with a mixed salad (salad, grated carrots, onion, tomato, ...) very nice and light.

210.029    Saldare   ^   ( Remarks about 170 words)

It's still raining. Very lightly with many breaks and the odd hard shower. And there is enough sun too to help dry everything after each shower. Nice weather unless you are on holiday at the coast ... oops.
Current temp is 22.9°C in and 15.8°C out.

More struggling than working really. Trying to find out why a program works, that while most people think finding out why it doesn't work is more difficult. Some of the stuff here really only works by accident.
That along with a bunch of support calls. Not too many but well spaced so they interrupt in the worst possible way.

Dinner is spaghetti, with a mackerel sauce and shaved parmesan. Rather good.

"I'm getting a divorce," said Jack to his friend, Bill. "The wife hasn't spoken with me for six months."

Bill thought for a moment and then replied, "Just make sure you know what you're doing, Jack. Wives like that are hard to find."

210.030    Glindare   ^   ( Remarks about 207 words)

It's perfect weather for me. Overcast with a couple of nice sunny breaks and nice temperatures (low for summer). It does stay dry so that's ok as well. Of course when it's perfect for me most other people are pissed off and call it miserable and cold. ^_^
Current temp is 19.9°C in and 14.2°C out.

Got half a day off.
To get the forms for my new ID card filled out. It only takes about half an hour but they are only open between 09:00 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 16:00 ~during the summer not even in the afternoon~ so I got to spend half day on it.

I do get back at work early enough to still put in about eight hour of serious work though. Which is all well cause I just hit a batch of hideously complex programs.

Dinner is rice with a garlic-parsley sauce and ginger-spiced baked shrimp. Well, I just cook the rice along with the parley and garlic in about just the right amount of water. Once all the water is soaked up I dump the shrimp in, mix it all about a bit and serve it in a bowl.

210.031    Ubodare   ^   ( Remarks about 242 words)

It's raining still, since yesterday. But the rain doesn't last, halfway trough the morning the clouds break up and move out leaving us unprotected in sunshine. Strangely most people like that. What most people don't like is that the clouds return in the afternoon. Bringing periods of drizzle.

And what I don't like is that we get a thunderstorm in the evening. Usually I like thunderstorms cause they cool down the place while being nice to watch. This one doesn't do that. It rains seriously for a while with two or three lightning strikes in the distance and some far off thunder. Once the rain stops the temperature is just as high as before but the air is overloaded with humidity.
Current temp is 24.6°C in and 17.3°C out.

Got a good day-start. Ahumm. Lots of support. Most of the afternoon is support-less though, but I don't get back in a good rhythm. Got a lot done but most of it went by in a blur.

Dinner is swordfish, dabbed in soy-sauce and stir fried, with rice and some sweet-sour sauce. Yumm.

And much better in every way than those small American hamburgers ... . ( ) Hamburger? Diet?

Speed cameras are deadly. ( http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/07/19/gatso_deaths_link/ ) Of course the solution is to put either more cameras out ... or order a different study.

210.032    Mirbandare   ^   ( Remarks about 209 words)

The last drops of the nightly rain are hanging on onto the leaves of the elm tree. With no wind to shake them off. By evening they still hang on cause the air is too humid for them to evaporate into it.
Current temp is 21.8°C in and 24.5°C out, that is outside at 23:30. Calling a sleepless night tonight.

Bha, work starts out again with a bunch of support. All simple things but still time and concentration eating stuff. The best thing about all the support this last couple of weeks is that I start to know stuff. I didn't have to ask Willy for help on anything today.
On top of that support I get a bunch of sapification stuff done as well. And it doesn't all happen in a haze like yesterday. Yep, got a good day today.

Running is a killer. With temperatures reaching up to 30°C and plenty of recent rain the air is too thick to breath. I think gills would have been useful. Still I do two rounds before I give up dying.

Dinner is rice with ham and egg and leeks. Standard post-running fair.

210.033    Blegidare   ^   ( Remarks about 278 words)

Still warm in the morning (19.8°C really is too warm at 05:30) and the only clouds visible are those high, thin heath trappers. We do get some proof of the water-cycle, all morning the sun is shining, heating up the soil and boiling off the water, then at noon the water congregates into clouds and rains down again. It's dry and warm in the afternoon again. With rain in the evening.
Current temp is 22.3°C in and 17.4°C out.

Communication is down when I get in. So that's a good start. There isn't much support till noon. Then ...
W goes on holiday next week. Well actually he leaves today in the evening. So he leaves a bit earlier to get some last minute stuff done. Of course the minute he leaves the phones come alive ...

But there is nothing unfixable. ^_^

Dinner is ... BBQ. Well, can't help. It's too hot and humid to start cooking in house so the best alternative is to cook outside.

Of course!!!!
Mere minutes after igniting the BBQ it starts to rain. I knew Murphy would be watching, the bastard. But rain is not going to stop me so I pick up the barbecue (using thick gloves) and move it on the porch. The roof is high enough and it's actually just a small steel (rust mostly ...   ed.) hibachi that doesn't give too much heat so that's safe enough. The only problem is a lack of ventilation so I have to fan the coals regularly, at least they are warm and glowing in stead of cold and dripping.

210.034    Sufirdare   ^   ( Remarks about 236 words)

It rained most of the night and by morning it's drizzling. By the time I go shopping it's all dried out again though the clouds never leave. There is enough sun to make the day some fun.
Current temp is 20.1°C in and 15.1°C out.

Shopping. The regulars, wine, fruit groceries. With some cheese from the cheese shop as well.

I spend the afternoon lazing away. I could call it cleaning but a professional cleaner would do it about 400 times faster without exerting himself ^_^

Dinner is fish with beans.

I planned on the wood-fire baked herring but I couldn't find either the smoked nor the fresh herring needed. I only found one mackerel -the standard alternative- but it did look dubious, had been out of the sea for too long. So I came back with smoked sardines. We used to make that -with smoked herring- often, it was a favourite of my father. It basically is the same as barbecueing except it's done over a burning wood-fire in stead of over glowing charcoal with the fish either skewered of trapped between a metal mesh. You bake it actually in the flames half the time so the skin cracks and burns. When that happens the fish is ready. Sardines are much smaller then herring so you need more of them. They also bake faster.

210.035    Lielidare   ^   ( Remarks about 130 words)

Sunday indeed. With plenty of sun, but enough clouds to cut back on the heat.
Current temp is 22.9°C in and 15.1°C out.

Lazy again. Well I do some cleaning in the kitchen, the hall and the computers. removing garbage from the garage, and the hard disks alike.

Dinner is vol-au-vent. And a good one. It takes a lot of time but I roll the meat balls myself so I can add the spices I want. Most vol-au-vent doesn't use sharp spices, if any, in the meat. I am not saying mine is so much better for it, it's just markedly different. With hard baked mushrooms and spiced meat balls along with the chicken and sauce. Yummy.

feel secure already? ( http://www.boingboing.net/2005/07/31/homeland_security_ra.html ) Of course the idea is that anybody crossing the border without such an RFID tag is instantly suspect. So all Americans become suspect (unless you can see from 12feet distance wheter it's an American or not ...). So, can you see the next step?

210.036    Utrodare   ^   ( Remarks about 218 words)

Much the same weather. Mostly clouded but the clouds are high and very white, blindingly so. It also rains. Well, at home I could hear it falling on the porch-roof even though I didn't see anything touching down on drive way.
Current temp is 22.2°C in and 16.7°C out.

Full day. Well, some minor problems here and there. You know printers not working (aka not working fast enough), users back from holiday requesting to unlock their profiles (and resetting their password), simple stuff like that.
And one big one from Wilr. After slaving over it for way too long I find out they have duplicate unique numbers in the dulk. Is as bad as it sounds. Even worse is that it's not a new problem, they know that it happens and how to correct it when it happens. So I loose half a day on something they know how to handle. Still, better to lose some time over a known issue than getting struck and stuck with a real issue.

Dinner is left over vol-au-vent.

You buy Apple cause you don't trust the Trusted computing from MicroSoft? ( http://www.boingboing.net/2005/07/31/apple_to_add_trusted.html ) But how far can you trust Apple after they sold out to Intel?
