210.019    Tguridare   ^   (Remarks about 218 words)

There is a bit of haze and a bunch of small frayed clouds out in the morning. But it hasn't cooled done one bit yet. And the clouds are chased off soon so it isn't cooling down all day. Not by day and not likely in the night cause now it's getting hazy again.
Current temp is 22.1°C in and 21.4°C out.

Almost no support. But I don't complain about that.

No complains about that scan-processing program either. It accidentally works. Some changes made in 1993 were not done right but haven't actually caused a real-live problem. Testing whether a location field is filled or not while the actual field contains a quantity in stead of a location. An empty (spaces) location is a big error but the programs sees zeroes so that it passes the test. Luckily the actual location is always filled.

Dinner is Risotto con orecchione gelone. Sounds much better than simply calling it spiced up rice with fungus. ^_^
I used dried Oyster Mushrooms (orecchione gelone in Italian) that I softened up in white wine, and instead of the usual long-grain rice I used shorter more rounded Indonesian rice. Delicious (but to much of course).

210.020    Saldare   ^   ( Remarks about 120 words)

Summer keeps going with lots of sun and heat. And no rain. Poor garden got baked for weeks then flooded and now baked again. Even the weeds aren't enjoying it much. At least it stays moderately clear in the evening so the night is probably gone be cool enough to sleep.
Current temp is 22.4°C in and 17.8°C out.

Shopping. Wine and fruit of course. With an extra stroll around town, one of the reasons I do my Saturday shopping on foot is that I like just walking around town here.

It's good summer weather with lots of sun and not actually to hot so I stay out playing with weeds and stuff in the garden. Till I notice I burned my scalp again. Yep, bald + sun = testa rossa. Time to hide.

210.021    Glindare   ^   ( Remarks about 592 words)

More sun to enjoy even though there are some hazy clouds up overhead. With the occasional breeze it's about as nice as summer gets. And it stays moderately clear in the evening, so it looks we gone get two sleepable nights in a row.
Current temp is 21.2°C in and 17.2°C out.

So I spend some more time in the garden. Being careful to stay in the shade as much as possible ^_^. And at noon and the afternoon I remain inside again. I love the sun but there is no need to get physical.

And I install Windows 2000 of the spare 'new' box after getting rid of Linux. The curious thing with the Linux installation is that whatever I set as boot option in the BIOS it will always start from the hard disk. Setting the CD as primary boot device (with a boot disk inserted) doesn't help. I had to completely swap the disk (adding another spare disk as master) and format it. Once Windows got installed (just 3 boots) everything is fine and working.

I would like to use Linux but I cannot get it to find the network and without network it's useless to me. W2K finds the network and lets me copy files up and down. All I still have to find out is how to make power save mode to work. I hoped Windows would handle that but just like Linux the box just freezes up when not used for more than an hour.

Dinner is mussels. Not the classical way that my father used to make them. For one I don't know hoy he did it. And secondly I don't have celery at the moment and I know he added that. (And thirdly one of the onions was rotten on the inside so I only use half the planned onion.) All that however doesn't mean I cooked them wrong. I did it my way. Adding a couple of chopped tomatoes, some of the fresh garlic from the garden and a generous sprinkling of herbs (thyme, laurel, marjoram, ...). In stead of the typical fries to go with it I double baked some bread with 'moon seeds' served almost cooled down. Very good combination. Only one thing went wrong.

I took out the casserole and stuff on the porch. And about five minutes later a swarm of nasty green flies flew in for their share. Very buzzing, very insisting flies. Trying to eat my dinner and lay eggs in it. So I fled inside to enjoy an undisturbed dinner. I just caught one fly inside.
Well, I didn't but a mussel did. While cleaning and rinsing mussels I look out for dead ones and broken shells -more than just a crack-. Not because they are going to be bad, maybe they just died during transport, but you never know. When they don't react to the washing, alternate in salt water and in fresh water -they open up in salt water and close in fresh- I put them aside. I only had one this time. When I finished dinner I heard a fly buzzing in the kitchen. This one bastard had tried to lay eggs in the dead mussel but found out that the mussel wasn't quite dead. The mussel had closed in self defense and trapped the egg-drill of the fly. The only escape was self-amputation of her main reproductive organ. *evil laughter*

210.022    Ubodare   ^   ( Remarks about 292 words)

The morning starts nice with lots of colourful clouds even though the sun is getting late, a bit later every day. Most of the morning remains that way. Well without all the nice red of course. In the afternoon we get more clouds and one firm shower. The soil is warm and hot enough though to soak up the water rather fast so ten minutes later all rain traces have gone. Now in the evening it rains again but very slowly. Thick drops but with enough time in between to let the first one dry up before the next one falls. And it's not cooling down with the heat trapping clouds and fresh humidity steaming off the streets.
Current temp is 22.8°C in and 19.7°C out.

Work goes nice and steady, I get interrupted only a few times for support.

And L shows up in the office. Her jaw operation went well, with visible -positive- result even though her face is still a bit swollen and insensitive -she can't smile jet. And nope, she's not in for work, just a meeting with HR.

Dinner is rice with chicken and tomato and paprika and some tandorii spice. All cooked together. It always amazes me how much water the rice sucks up. It amazes and usually surprises me so that I have to add water halfway. This time I judged right. Nope I do most of my cooking without measuring out my ingredients.
I not only judged right on the water but also on the general amounts so I now, after eating liberally -burps-sorry-, have a second generous portion left over for tomorrow. saves work and washing.
Says lazy me ^_^

210.023    Mirbandare   ^   ( Remarks about 181 words)

It is still raining in the morning but still as slow as in the evening so nothing is actually wet. Everything has cooled down though. With the clouds hanging around it looks more like a standard Belgian summer day though we miss the rain to make it a real one. Of course with the extra moisture it gets stifling as soon as the sun peeks trough for a few moments.
Current temp is 22.4°C in and 17.3°C out.

Sapification is killing me. Continuing the changes cause not everything has been done yet while at the same time R is testing already. It's as if you got to change wheels on a roller-coaster while it's running and at the same time you have to get the track finished because it isn't ready -even the plans aren't ready- and for all I know another carriage may be coming down from the other side.

Dinner is the second portion of yesterday's rice and chicken mix. As usual with a better blended-in taste

210.024    Blegidare   ^   ( Remarks about 187 words)

There are lots of clouds out but with enough wide gaps to make it an enjoyable day. But it's also a lot cooler so we don't get the baking heat nor the steam-cooker moisture. Sounds like a great day. (And of course people come in complaining that its's cold. *sigh* )
Current temp is 20.8°C in and 15.3°C out.

More rushing at work than work. Well, R is testing and he wants to be able to send test data back to the client (they are testing as well), so I got to jump around to get things fixed. I actually spend a lot of time finding out that errors are not errors. Even with a good program the output is at

Dinner is a nice pizza, perfect dough combined with a superb topping. And then I spoil it with a bit too much anchovy. Not really spoiled of course, I didn't dump that much on it, but I am used to a salt-less diet so the anchovy tastes really salty.

210.025    Sufirdare   ^   ( Remarks about 201 words)

Much the same style of weather as yesterday. But in the afternoon we get more wind. Which makes the temperature difference between sun shade more marked. I choose the shade for hanging around in. Of course this is the 21st so it does rain though it's hardly worth that name. Some rain that dries up fater than it falls.
Current temp is 23.1°C in and 15.7°C out.

Its Belgian National holiday. So no one is working.
Banks, big shops and industry anyways. And me.
A welcome break away from computers ...

OK. Day off so I don't want to work with computers but it's stronger than myself. I break the Windows2000 box. It had a resume problem in that it ... well ... didn't resume. Easy quick fix, so I go in the BIOS check out the power options without changing anything (cause it all looks OK) and promptly Windows refuses to come up at all, locking before the Logo comes up itself. Several tries and hours later the stupid box boots again, as far as I know with the same settings as before. But now it boots normally (tried several times) and it wakes-up after going down in power save.

Dinner is misu soup. which goes well with the headache that's been brewing all day.

210.026    Lielidare   ^   ( Remarks about 267 words)

There is change in the air. But it doesn't want to come out of it so we get clouds and a bit of wind along with the sunshine. And no noticeable rain.
But then there is the most wonderful rising moon in the evening. Very full and bloated and red but soon shinning bright. Playing on the clouds that glow red with dying sunlight on one side and and shimmer with a pale silver glow on the other side.
Current temp is °C in and °C out.

Back to the grind. Rather hectic too. R is testing and throwing problems my way while I throw solutions back. There is a fair bit of grey stuff where we are not sure what or how to tackle things. Up to now we only tested to make sure the changes didn't interrupt normal processing, the changes are for one client all the other clients must be able to continue working in the same way they always have (almost). The things R is testing now are new. And he goes on holiday next week so all tests and correction on the incoming part must be finished before 17:00.

And they are.

Dinner is a nice big swordfish steak. With fries and a wonderful sauce-vegetable mix. I start by dumped some tomato, garlic and paprika in a sauce pan. While that simmers I dry roast a good spoonful of almond chips, and bake -on high heat- a box of chopped mushrooms. Once baked I add it all together and serve.

210.027    Utrodare   ^   ( Remarks about 112 words)

Same song again. Nice clouds, mostly white with a couple of dark brothers in between with wide and narrow gaps filled with blue. And another nice moon rise.
Current temp is 19.7°C in and 15.8°C out.

Shopping. Wine and fruit of course. With most people being on holiday all is quiet in town. Only by the time I get home again there is some activity. Feels like a national sleep-in day ^_^

Sleep-in days are good for resting, and while I don't do the sleep-in thing I do some intensive resting.

Dinner is steak with grilled Oyster Mushrooms and a shallot-gravy sauce.
