It's drizzling in the morning.
And raining now.
It's stopped raining.
But now it's raining again.
More drizzle for the moment.
Hey, look, that's nice sunlight.
Currently it's raining.
I am happy to report we have sunshine.
Another clouds of drizzle passing over.
...
Current temp is 21.1°C in and 16.2°C out.
There's almost no support inerupting the Sapification so I get a fair bit done. Not enough of course but still.
Dinner is a piece of pizza (my brother didn't eat it all) and a bowl (or two) of chicken soup. Nothing special, but then it doesn't have to be special to be good.
Friday 2005-09-16 (Remarks about words)
It drizzles most of the night but by morning the clouds are gone and we suffer an nice colourful sunrise. After which we are brutally abused by ... nice sunshine and warmth. The best thing about the season is that we get all the sunshine and warmth but without the heat.
Current temp is 21.7°C in and 6.4°C out.
Shopping. Wine and fruit. Curious, almost everybody is running around with coats and pullovers.
Very nice weather so I play happy puppy in the garden. Hopping around, in and out. Being busy but not actually doing much of anything. ^_^
Dinner is duck, sliced thin and baked fast and coated with sauce of wine and whisky. It's a very good sauce to give beef or pork give a gamey taste. Of course duck has already a good taste so there is much less wine needed. I had a good balance there but added just a bit too much herbs. Which is a good thing cause now I must try again soon ^___^

Repeat weather but this time the whole night is clear with brilliant moonlight.
Current temp is 21.1°C in and 5.3°C out.
The weather is a repeat so I repeat the garden work as well. Doing not much twice results in only a little bit done. But that's the whole point of having a garden, you can switch gear, live at a different speed.
In the afternoon we go to my uncle and on the way back I drop my brother off at the station.
Dinner is chicken with sweet curry and rice. Well, I usually make a sharp and spicy (sometimes verrrrrrrry sharp) curry so it's something new. Of course, while being sweet it's not half as sweet as the common commercial sweet curry. And you sure notice there is curry in it.
Sunday 2005-09-18 ( Remarks about 149 words)
Autumn coolness in the morning (+0.8°C) but that leads to a nice sunny day all round. Very sunny and comfortable without any of the summers baking heath. With just a very thin haze causing a rainbow coloured halo around the moon.
Current temp is 21.0°C in and 5.7°C out (and falling at about 1° per hour).
There's just a few support issues to cope with so I get on well with the last and more tricky bits of the sapification. Things like the communication between the bar code-scanners and the database. It's not difficult but it is a very crucial piece of code so nobody has dared to remove things. With changes dating back to 1991 there is a lot of ballast in there.
Dinner is spiced chicken with green rice. Thai-spiced chicken baked hard but not long so it's crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside. Green rice is just your normal white rice but cooked with chopped parsley. And some crushed garlic. Should I mention I ate way to much again? Hmm, better not.

Yay, another cool morning (+0.6°C). And again it's followed by the nicest possible weather. All sun and brilliance with pale blue skies. There are a few thin clouds in the west turning red with the setting sun but that's not troubling. not yet.
Current temp is °C in and °C out.
Support was back-breaking today. Yep, I got one call. With less than two weeks to go I stop with picking up more files to change for the Sapification. In stead I start to prepare the scenario for moving from development to production. And I start to check out files for conversion programs.
That is on top of looking out for problems. R is testing whenever he can and he came up with a serious problem. The seriousness I see however is different from what he sees. He scans in an incoming order and sees that not all the data that he expects is passed to the database. Reading the programs I see an design error. Well, the program, as written in 1998/2003 can work correct but the control matrix -production system- is not set up correct. So if this is an error it lives in the production system since 1998.
Yeekes
Dinner is rice with some carrots and beans. And parsley. Yep parsley again. Once it starts to freeze seriously the plants will die down so I pluck away at the leaves while I still have them.

Of course, when Hollywood moves it moves in the wrong direction. ( http://www.freedom-to-tinker.com/?p=898 ) How surprising.
I think I am looking at a new purchase here. ( http://www.gpx2.co.uk/ ) Of course if it really sells maybe Sony will put Linux on its PSP console -shouldn't be a problem as they had a Linux kit for PS2- to get some part of the market (and to poke at MS).

It's a bit less cool, about 2°C, so not all the water has condensed down. Which means it's still up in the air as a dense mist. A couple of hours later though the mist is gone and it's all nice and blue again. Almost as soon as night falls mist rises.
Current temp is 21.3°C in and 7.0°C out.
Just two support issues today, though one came up three times (moving a load backward). That means I had enough time to write up an scenario for moving the whole sapification stuff to test end on to production. With time to spare for a first conversion program.
Dinner is barbecue. As close to the end of the season as you get.
Usually the weather deteriorates and cools down too much for a good BBQ. Today was good though, the only disadvantage being darkness descending at around 20:00 so it's still clear when the meat goes on but dark before the meat is done, which is hard to see. Needless to say I ate too much.

Free culture. ( http://www.freeculture.org.uk/news.html ) Good attempt but no chance on success.
Authors going crazy. ( http://www.boingboing.net/2005/09/20/authors_guild_sues_g.html ) Rightfully afraid people will notice they don't need a book with a misleading title before buying it.

There is lots of mist again but unevenly distributer. Clear here and there but with sudden dense banks. As usual with misty morninged days it gets clear and blue fairly soon. And it stays that way till nightfall.
Current temp is 22.7°C in and 9.1°C out.
Running without backup again. Well a couple of crashed jobs (transport) held up everything from 02:00 onward. When I cancel those at 07:25 the backup tries to start but I stop it immediately. It's no good running the backup when business of the day starts picking up.
There is of course a reaction. Between 02:00 and 07:25 none of the background jobs got a chance to run. While it is quite at night we do run a 24h operation so a few people got pissed off. They called the general support number but that's the hardware en network guys and they don't know the AS/400. For the AS/400 there is no 24h support. OK a few people can be contacted at home by GSM but that is purely voluntary with no guarantees.
The problem is that everybody agrees there should be a kind of 24h support regime. But nobody wants to pay for it. Doing the odd unpayed favour to the company is OK, doing it on schedule and on demand is something entirely different.
No pay no cure. The work itself went OK. Just a couple of simple support calls to interrupt a good progression on the conversion programs.
It is finally cooling down enough to make running bearable. I do however decided to try another regime. I split up the 6KM in 3km on Thursday evening and 3km on Sunday morning. I used to run on Sunday morning (around 06:00) but when I came to work here I joined a couple of colleagues for running on Tuesday evening after work. That became Thursday evening. But for the last couple of months I have been running alone as the others stopped running one by one. I keep running for myself so that's no problem.
Rice with leeks and ham, standard Thursday dinner.

Just a little bit warmer in the morning so there is no mist just some hazy pale orange horizons all around.
Current temp is 21.6°C in and 6.1°C out.
Support was bad again. I just logged 6 calls. But not all calls are easy or quick to solve. Some, like restarting a printer just take a minute, it takes longer to log them than to solve them. But others can take a rather long time to solve.
One was easy and normal. One was actually stupid, but I did loose almost half an hour to find out I didn't have to do anything at all. Then there was the other call to link orders, but after checking I find they can't be linked. So I call back to the all to make them check with the customer. And I never hear anything about it later.

There is rain predicted but Someone forgot to inform the clouds about this so they stay away all day. So it's perfect weather again. Only late in the afternoon the message reaches trough clouds come sailing in.
Current temp is 23.1°C in and 9.2°C out.
Shopping. Fruit, wine, groceries. Of course the moment I get home I see the notice on the fridge about getting coffee-filters. Guess what I did not bring?
It's rather good weather to be almost-active in the garden. The beans are mostly dried so I get them out for a little bit of extra drying. Most of the beans are dry enough but they get wet with dew each morning so when we hit colder weather again they risk rotting. Inside they will be dry and ready for peeling on some rainy evenings.
Dinner is chicken with fennel and tomatoes and potatoes. Fresh fennel form the garden. It's much smaller then the fennel I get in the shop but it tastes much better, you can actually smell it while cutting. The shop stuff smells good as well but you got to hold it up to your nose to catch that smell. Add to that the home-grown tomatoes and an onion from the garden, hmm, no need to add herbs to it. For a change I don't cut up the chicken but bake it whole (as whole as you can bake half a chicken ^_^) with a branch of thyme -freshly cut- and a spoonful of chopped garlic.
Perfection is too weak a term.Apart from the chicken and the olive oil everything was home-grown.
